great experience- only downfall was they had run out of oysters :( food was delicious. cute atmosphere
We evidently went on a bad night. We decided to sit at the bar. The bartender wasn't really friendly. My wife ordered a pizza that was given to the wrong people. They took it back to the kitchen where they started over. Her order must have gone to the back of the line because it took an unusual amount of time for her to get a new one. Meanwhile, I didn't know what happened to my order for the steak tips. I was finally served after my wife received her pizza and of course it was cold. It probably sat under the warming lights for all that time. They attempted to reheat it, but it just didn't work out well. They did comp my wife a glass of wine.
Decent beer list (not overlong, many crafts on tap). The ambience is an ersatz 'retro industrial' that is well designed, with excellent use of dropped ceilings to trap the usual white noise of a busy restaurant overhead. I could talk with my dinner party in a slightly than louder voice, despite an energetic large family at an adjacent table. Kudos! to the designer.
Can't wait to go back and try something else on the menu. Or order up a reprise!
A little expensive for what you get. Understaffed when we went. Easy parking everytime I have been there.
When I have been to the 525 there almost never is a wait more than 20 minutes, and most times I have been seated right away. The menu has variety and the special are always delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive and there is always a great selection if beers and alcoholic drinks offered. My favorite dish is the Baja Fish Tacos with extra cilantro lime crema; it's light, fresh and fills me up without making me regret how much I ate. I highly recommend going to the 525 to anyone who wants a cozy slightly upscale evening with a touch of home.
Probably wouldn't recommend it
After reading many positive reviews, I'll add another. First time visitor? Unless you're a vegetarian, go for the root beer steak tips. Seriously. They arrive on your tongue sweet, then the other flavors come on as the beef dissolve in your mouth...then a smoky char lingers. Mine plate with some delicious whole carrots and lovely mashed potatoes. A complete buffet for the palate in one meat-and-potatoes meal.
